Claudia Mahler, new Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights by older people

The NGO Committee on Ageing congratulates our friend Claudia Mahler, from the German National Institute for Human Rights on her recent appointment as the new Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights by older people. She was appointed at the closing of the 43rd session of the Human Rights Council on 13 March 2020.

Claudia Mahler has been a defender of the rights of older persons for a long time and has worked closely with our Committee. In the picture below she is with us at our meeting with the High Commissioner in Apil last year. We will carry on working together!

Claudia will start her mandate in May when the current Independent Expert is scheduled to end her mandate that she has held for the last six years. On this occasion, we would like to thank Rosita Kornfeld-Matte for her dedication and excellent work as the first ever UN Independent Expert on the Rights of Older Persons. We shall continue working also with her.
