WHO Executive Board: 22-23 November 2017

WHO
A special session of the WHO Executive Board took place on 22-23 November to discuss the new strategic priorities and the draft General Programme of Work (GPW). It was impressive to hear by the WHO administration that 90 % of the comments received during the public consultation by Non-State Actors, referred to the lack of emphasis on Ageing. Around 300 comments were submitted by the Global Ageing Community. Silvia Perel-Levin, Committee Chair, delivered an oral statement on behalf of the International Federation on Ageing (IFA) and organisations working with and for older people.

Several Member States also raised the importance of including the life course perspective and older persons in the strategic directions. We will be following up to make sure that the revised draft includes ageing appropriately.
